California Department of Conservation Division of Oil Gas and Geothermal ResourcesThe California Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources will conduct workshops in late April aimed at engineers with experience in petroleum production who may be interested in job opportunities in the regulatory field. The Bakersfield job fair is designed, organizers say, to help fill dozens of recently-created positions to conduct inspections and oversee required testing, among other responsibilities.“Given current economic realities in the oil and gas industry, we believe that there are many highly qualified, knowledgeable engineers who may be looking for new opportunities,” State Oil & Gas Supervisor Ken Harris said.

Oil wells are among the thousands pumping the oil fields of California’s southern Central Valley in the town of Oildale, California.

The Bakersfield workshop will be held April 28 at the Bistro Ballroom of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 5101 California Avenue. Attendance is limited to 250. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with a presentation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Clara.shaffer@conservation.ca.gov. The Long Beach workshop on April 29 will be held at the Hilton Hotel, 701 West Ocean Boulevard.
