Walking down the field, hearing the crowd talking, trying to pay attention to the yard lines and to stand in the right place. The pressures you are feeling and the nervousness running through your body that your marching is perfect, that the music is in tune and that you make all the dots. The speaker on the microphone announces it’s time to begin. The pressure is on. It’s time to focus on the performance in front of the huge audience and 5 judges.

The drum major goes, “1, 2, 3 – 1, 2, 3”. The field show performance has begun. As you march down the field, trying to remember where you’re going and what part of the song is being played. But, you continue to focus through the nervousness.

Finally you finish the show. You’re experiencing unusual feelings: nervousness but excitement at the same time. But you have completed what you’ve been practicing for. It’s all over. Time to leave the field and find out how you’ve done. This whole experience is simply unforgettable.
